About This Item
Eastbourne: Eastbourne Fine Art, 1968-69. Cloth. Near Fine. 11.5" by 8.5". Various. A interesting three volume set showcasing the artist of East Anglia, England. Illustrated throughout with numerous examples of their work. Each volume is a limited edition, being one copy of 1000 printed. Written by the author of 'Life and Work of Joseph Stannard', Harold A. E. Day. This interesting three volume set delves in the art history of the East of England and showcases the artist talents of the region from as early as Thomas Gainsborough of the 18th century. East Anglia is a large geographical area in the East of England which includes the three counties of Norfolk, Suffolk, and Cambridgeshire, with this set of works highlighting the important artist of the area. With a strong connection to this region, the work not only offers a interesting look at art but is a fascinating work of local interest. In a attractive faux-morocco binding, with decorative front boards. The work touches upon the members of the Norwich School of Painters, which is of particular note as it was the first provincial art movement to be formed in the U.K. A landmark group and a important part of British art history the work showcases some of the members paintings. In a full cloth binding. Externally, in lovely condition with just some minor rubbing to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities of volume I. Otherwise the remaining volumes have only some minor shelfwear. Small evidence of tape removal to the front and rear pastedowns of each volume. Internally firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean.
