About This Item

Eastbourne, Sussex, England: Eastbourne Fine Art, 1971. Hardcover. VG (Slight soiling to cover of first volume; otherwise clean.). 3 vols. in varied color cloth (blue, red, green), with gilt letters on spines and front covers, and BW illus. laid on front covers. 782 pp. Profuse bw plates. A three volume set addressing the East Anglian painters who lived primarily in Suffolk. "Research carried out on the painters who came in the wake of Gainsborough and Constable has revealed men of considerable ability and genius. Together they make a great contribution to English painting." (preface, vol.I). A great resource for a student of English painting. The first volume here is from the second printing (1971). Volumes II and III are from the first printing and original runs of just 1000 copies each. Finding all three together is uncommon.
