A collection of 18th century artwork depicting early views of India by English painters Thomas and Willian Daniell, enclosed in the original dust wrapper. A fascinating and comprehensive collection of artwork from the eighteenth century depicting early views of India, including illustrations of the Taj Mahal, Great Mosque at Delhi, temples of Ellora, Tanjore, the Himalayas, and more. These prints were originally drawn by Thomas and William Daniell, English landscape painters and travellers who spent ten years traveling India during the late eighteenth century. Including two hundred and fifty-eight in-text illustrations, thirty-three of which are in colour, and three maps. Collated and complete.Including commentary on the illustrations provided by Mildred Archer.Enclosed in the original dust wrapper. In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, very smart, with some light shelf wear. Original unclipped dust wrapper has some light residue and soiling to the front of the wrap. Some creasing and a closed tear to the front of the wrap. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright and clean. Near Fine
