About This Item

London: Religious Tract Society, 1897. First edition. Cloth. Very Good. 7.5" by 5.5". Not Stated. The scarce first edition of this delightfully bound children's novel. With full plate illustrations throughout. The first edition of this illustrated children's novel from Victorian era writer Amy le Feuvre, author of a number of works for the young, often with a Christian moral message. This charmingly bound edition is subtitled, 'Hilda Thorn's Life Story' and is relayed in the first person, featuring a number of illustrated plates concerning the central character's life. With a contemporary inscription, dated March 6th 1899, to the front pastedown. In the publisher's original pictorial cloth binding. Slight discolouration to back strip, with bumping to spine head and tail. Contemporary inscription to front pastedown. Internally, generally firmly bound, though a little strained in places. Pages clean, though age toned due to paper type. Very Good
