Hartford: Hudson & Goodwin, 1796. 408pp. Contemporary tree calf, spine gilt, leather label. Head of spine heavily chipped, top of hinges starting. Corners worn, boards lightly scuffed. Minor toning and foxing. Nearly very good. Theological work by Connecticut clergyman Nathan Strong, pastor of the North Presbyterian Church in Hartford. A Yale graduate, Strong (1748-1816) served as a chaplain in the American Revolution. He published several sermons and helped compile a popular hymnal, THE HARTFORD SELECTION OF HYMNS (1799).
