(cgc) ~ One of fifteen lectures delivered between 1769 and 1790 by the founder and first president of the Royal Academy, Sir Joshua Reynolds (1723-1792). President from 1768 to 1792, his discourses are noted for their sensitivity and perception. This Discourse is particularly a tribute to founding Royal Academy member, Thomas Gainsborough who had died in August, 1788. A scarce copy in attractive modern bindings.
