Hale,, [1974]. 8vo., First Edition thus, with 24 plates on 16 and several full-page facsimiles in the text; blue cloth, backstrip lettered in silver, a near fine copy in unclipped dustwrapper. First published in the US three years earlier. The story of the catastrophic Luftwaffe attack on the port in December 1943 in which 17 merchantmen were sunk; one carried a cargo of mustard gas and its release led to heavy casualties.
