Amsterdam: Pierre Mortier, 1747. Leather. Good Only. 6" by 4". None. A mid-eighteenth century Amsterdam edition of Le Sage's famous novel, The Devil on Two Sticks. Complete in Two Volumes. Two Volumes bound as One. In the original French. With thirteen illustrations. In a full calf binding. Externally, worn. The spine leather is cracked in several places. The front board is held by one cord only, and could possibly detach in the post, even after careful packing. The rear joint is cracked. Internally, generally firmly bound although split with exposed cords in several places, with light, largely marginal, foxing. There are occasional copperplate ink annotations. With a copperplate ink inscriptions to the front blank. Good Only
