1945. 1st Edition . Soft cover. Very Good/No dust Jacket as issued. Very good, no dust jacket as issued. SIGNED and inscribed to a fellow mystery novelist "Signed with great pleasure for Carolyn Wheat by "Matthew Head" - John Canaday " by the author on the inside of the front cover. Original 1945 Dell paperback. "A Dell Mystery Complete with Crime Map on Back Cover" medallion. There is handling wear and some peeling to the laminate. Toning to the pageblock. Matthew Head is the pseudonym of John Edwin Canaday (1907-1985), an art critic and writer. Canaday was the New York Times art critic for seventeen years and authored several monographs of visual art scholarship. A Dr. Mary Finney mystery by the late author of "The Smell of Money" and "Another Man's Life". Dell editions are rare, especially signed. Where possible, all books come with dust jacket in a clear protective plastic sleeve, sealed in a ziplock bag, wrapped in bubble wrap, shipped in a box.
