Complete in two volumes. A fascinating topographical work on areas of local interest in South Wales and southwest England, including Bristol, Caerleon, Newport, Cowbridge, Swansea, Pembroke, and more. Written by Edward Donovan, an Anglo-Irish naturalist and amateur zoologist.Containing thirty-one illustrated plates, collated and complete. Containing the bookplate of Leonard Harrison Matthews to the front pastedown of each volume. Also containing an advert for the work adhered to the front pastedown of Volume I.This copy came from the library at Julians Park, Hertfordshire, the previous home of Audrey Pleydell-Bouverie (1902-1968). She was an English socialite and through her mother was the illegitimate granddaughter of King Edward VII. Uniformly bound in half calf binding with paper covered boards. Externally, smart, with some rubbing to the spines and extremities. Some minor shelf wear. Bookplate of previous owner to the front pastedowns of each volume. Advert for the work to the pastedown of Volume I. Internally, front hinges strained but firm. Volumes are firmly bound. Pages are slightly age-toned in places but are generally clean. Very Good
