Lanning reveals the little-known, critical, and heroic role African Americans played in the American Revolution. They served in integrated ranks, which didn't happen again until the Korean War, 150 years later. Both slaves and free blacks served in the early battles; by the third year, manpower shortages overcame prejudices, and they were integrated into the ranks of the militia and the Continental Army. Here, finally, is that story. Eight pages of illustrations on coated paper. Bound in black half cloth gilt titled wit bright red paper-wrapped boards, very clean and unmarked. Tight, solid and square. Interior Fine -- very clean and free from any markings, no creasing. Lt. Col.
