London: Collins [The Crime Club], 1949. A first edition, first printing published by Collins in 1949. A very good (or better) book without inscriptions. Clean internally. Some bumping and fading to the head and base of the spine. In a very good clipped wrapper with loss to the spine tips and one closed tear to the front panel. The novel is set in and near London in the autumn of 1947. Christie said the titles of this novel and Ordeal by Innocence were her favourites amongst her own works.
Synopsis
Crooked House is a work of detective fiction by Agatha Christie first published in the US by Dodd, Mead and Company in March 1949 and in the UK by the Collins Crime Club on May 23 of the same year. The US edition retailed at $2.50 and the UK edition at eight shillings and sixpence (8/6). The action takes place in and near London in the autumn of 1947. Christie has said that this was one of her two favourites of her own works, the other being Ordeal by Innocence.
