The first edition of this work.A charming novel about country life in the early nineteenth century.Written by Mary Russell Mitford, a noted English author, who is best known for her work 'Our Village'.Half-title is present.Prior owner's ink inscription to the front pastedown.Two pages of publisher's adverts to the rear. In a half calf binding with marbled paper to the boards. Externally, generally smart. Minor rubbing to the boards and spine. Small crack to the spine. A little bumping to the extremities. Small tidemark to the rear endpaper and rear pastedown. Front hinge is starting but firm. Pages are bright and generally clean with some spots. Very Good

Where are We?
Based in the literary city of Bath, our offices are housed in the Eastern Dispensary. Built in 1845, the building originally existed as a charitable institution providing medical care. The building now houses our collection of over twenty thousand books and has five full time members of staff.
