About This Item
London: Frederick Muller Ltd, 1946. Hardcover. Very Good/Dust Jacket Not Included. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. In the early 1940s Count Sforza, formerly foreign minister and ambassador, became the de facto leader of Italian anti-fascism in exile. This book, which the author describes as "a study of the relationship of ideas and civil life in Italy," was based on lectures given at the University of California in 1942-3. This copy is a 1946 UK edition, though the same translation was previously published in the US by Dutton in 1944. Hardcover in red cloth with gilt titling set in a black rectangle. Maps in b&w on endpapers. Includes Chronologies and an Index. Small bio, possibly a remnant of the missing dust jacket, laid in. A little faded at the spine. Thin, wartime paper has become a little tan. Previous owner's name written on the reverse of the ffep. Mildly worn and rubbed but still square and firmly bound.

About Pulp & Circumstance
Welcome to Pulp & Circumstance on Biblio. Once a brick and mortar bookseller, I am pleased that I can now offer scarce and/or collectible books and other items via this platform.
P&C strives to ensure that all items are clean and fairly described. Packages will be wrapped with care and dispatched as soon as feasible, usually on the next business day.
We do not use stock photos. All our photos are of the actual item offered for sale. We try to include the publishers' own descriptions of content by including photos of dust jacket flaps and back covers so far as they seem useful, and we also use photos to show material flaws where we can.
The "Pulp & Circumstance" watermark you might notice in some of our photos does not, of course, appear on any of the items themselves.
Please note that the colour in our photos often fails to come out right. The hue shifts a bit due to the limitations of our equipment, the lighting in our workshop, and of course my own lack of photographic expertise.
Shipping costs per book are always cheaper when more than one book is sent in the same package. Read more about shipping charges in "Terms of Sale" below.
Feel free to ask any questions you might have by email. We will usually respond within 24 hours. Happy browsing!
