London: G. G. Harrap & Company, Ltd. Good+ with no dust jacket. 1939. 1st. Hardcover. The book has been rebound in red cloth covered boards with gilt titles on spine, tape stains on end papers, unobtrusive library markings, library pocket and cncellation stamp on back end paper ; A bright, solid book, B&W plates throughout. Appears not to have been read very much ; Ex-Library; 285 pages; Segal attempts to give a history of the attempts of various explorers to discover the Artic in its various aspects, its passages, its flora and fauna, its peoples. These explorers, many of whom gave their lives, traveled by sea, by air, and overland. Many places are named in honour of these men. In an appendix at the end is a chronological list of the explorers, their nationality, the location of their exploration and the year, ending in 1918. .
