About This Item
London: J Debrett, 1801. First edition. Cloth. Fine. 8" by 5". None. An uncommon work on economics and public finances written by the Welsh statistician regarded as the father of actuarial science. William Morgan was a Welsh physician, physicist and statistician. This is a review of the accounts of William Pitt the Younger's administration. Morgan formed the statements and computations in this work from the accounts of the revenue and expenditure laid before the House of Commons. He notes to the advertisement that he is principally indebted to the assistance of his 'valuable friend Mr Hobhouse, who has so often distinguished himself in parliament, particularly by opposing those ruinous Measures of Finance which form the chief subjects of discussion in this, and my former publications'. An extremely bright copy of this work. In a recent full cloth binding. Externally, fine. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean. Fine
