London: Printed for Lackington, Allen, and Co., 1802. [2], 492pp. With an engraved frontispiece. Contemporary half-calf, marbled boards, contrasting red morocco lettering-piece. Lightly rubbed, some loss to lettering-piece. Internally clean and crisp. An early eighteenth-century edition of the theatrical comedies of North African playwright of the Roman Republic Publius Terentius Afer (c.195/185-c.159 BCE), translated into blank verse by playwright George Colman (bap. 1732, d. 1794). First published in 1765, Colman's translation of the six plays, with extensive notes and commentaries, met with universal critical acclaim. . 8vo.
