Mercer Univ Pr, 1996. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Fine/Fine. 137 pages. Fine condition hardcover with fine dustjacket. He was foreman of the Rifle Works at Harpers Ferry later becoming acting master armorer. Neglected due to political partisanship, he left for England were he became chief engineer of the Royal Small Arms factory, producing the Enfield Rifle. Returning to America just before the Civil War James Burton became the premier small arms expert in the Confederacy.
