Finely bound copy of the first fine press edition First Riccardi Press edition, number 862 of 1,000 copies on handmade Riccardi Paper; an additional 13 were printed on vellum. The first edition to be printed at a private press, it was produced by Philip Lee Warner's Riccardi Press which was well known for fine editions of Chaucer, Malory, Shakespeare, Tennyson, and Browning, reflecting in this company just how rapidly the deceased soldier-poet had been canonized. The collection was first published in America in 1915. An expanded edition was released three years later in Britain. Octavo. Finely bound by the Chelsea Bindery in dark blue morocco, spine lettered and framed in gilt, gilt ruling on covers, board edges, and turn-ins, burgundy endpapers, top edge gilt, others untrimmed. Woodcut frontispiece and title page vignette by Gwen Raverat. A fine copy.
