About This Item

Washington, D.C.: United States Government Printing Office, 1960. Civil Rights Act of 1960. Hearings Before the Committee on the Judiciary, United States Senate, Eighty-sixth Congress, Second Session on H. R. 8601. An Act to Enforce Constitutional Rights, and for Other Purposes. March 28 and 29, 1960. Washington, D.C.: United States Government Printing Office, 1960.

Rare official proceedings of these important hearings on the Civil Rights Act of 1960. Includes statements of Hon. William P. Rogers, U.S. Attorney General, as well as Deputy Attorney General Lawrence Walsh and Macon, Georgia, attorney Charles Bloch. Also features a copy of the bill (H.R. 8601), along with the text of two letters to James Eastland, Chairman of the Committee on the Judiciary, of March 1960. One was from Gordon Tiffany, staff director of the Commission on Civil Rights, the other from Arthur Flemming, Secretary of Health, Education and Welfare.

Pp. v, 178. Stapled quires. 9.5" x 5.75". A few small stains to cover, just a tad of light creasing and edge wear, lightly toned. Very good plus. # 62471.
