Tight. handsome facsimile of the 1879 Wilstach, Baldwin & Co. (Cincinnati) first edition, which James I. Robertson Jr. reviewed as "Highly readable observations on military affairs, slavery, officers, and places in both major theaters...." Beatty was a lieutenant colonel with the Third Ohio Volunteer Infantry. A volume in the "Collector's Library of the Civil War" series, with their special series bookplate (unsigned) on front pastedown awaiting your John Hancock. NEVINS I, 56.
