About This Item
London: William Heinemann Ltd, 1939. First edition. Cloth. Very Good Indeed/Fair. 7.5" by 5.5". None. A scarce first edition of this novel by Somerset Maugham. Published before the outbreak of war in 1939, Christmas Holiday provides a warning to the complacent, British middle-class of the upheavals taking place on the European mainland. In a blue cloth binding in original unclipped dustwrapper. Externally, excellent with some slight shelfwear and bumping to corners. Dustwrapper is tender and missing back cover and spine and has some edgewear and a closed tear to right edge. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are slight age-toned but clean. Previous owner's bookplate to front pastedown. Very Good Indeed
