Edges lightly rubbed. 1945 Large Hardcover. 10 x 8 3/4 inch fold-out children's book of 12 double-sided heavy cardboard panels hinged to one another in accordion style. When unfolded each side shows a ten foot long color illustration of a train and the background scene. Combined you have 20 feet of continuous illustrations of the train.

Decorative front and rear matt cover hold together the ten carboard panels that make up this accordion fold out book. The front cover and spine show the most wear with rubbing to the top and bottom of the cloth as well as rubbing along the gutter attached to the front cover. The lower corner of the cover shows a great deal of wear, is sharp with little bumping or wear. The first internal page shows some wear at the corner, but remaining pages only have rubbing where attached to fabric binding and slight rubbing to the bottom edge. Serrated top edges are in good condition with only very light wear. The fabric is torn approximately 5" between two boards. All the pages are colorful, vibrant and are functional with only one crease to the oil tanker board. Pages have no rubbing, tears, chips, or previous owner marks. Unpaginated but approximately 10 pages. Oblong design

Wonderful fold-out board book for young readers with vintage images of small town American life circa 1945 in "Riverdale." The book's 10 colorful panels, each depicting a progressive section of the locomotive, are attached with burgundy cloth, which has faded. On one set of panels, there is evidence that it has been reglued (photo 5), & it is a bit shaky here. But all the others are strong & secure! Colors are bright, no fading (except to the cloth binding. Very clean, completely unmarked. The only other real flaw is heavy rubbing to all lower edges & along the fore edge; the worst occurs on the front cover near the top outer corner, where the paper is rubbed down to the underlying board. A very nice example of a favorite book of mid-century children! Platt & Munk Co., 1945. 8.75" X 10" [Oblong] in colorful illustrated hard covers. This is a delightful book for children which is made up of 10 heavy cardboard "boards" hinged to one another accordion-style inside hinged hard covers of the same material showing a train, the various cars, people, freight, etc. as well as the county outside the train. The covers are a little soiled, and there is some wear to the fore edge of the front cover and the bottom edge of the back cover. The interior is very nice. About VERY GOOD MINUS condition.. Hardcover. Very Good/No Jacket.
