Honolulu, HI: Fong Inn's Limited, 1940. First, Limited Edition. Hardcover. Very Good. Quarto; xii, 139 pages, green cloth, gilt tiles, rubbed at corners and edges, several dried adhesive marks on the free endpaper. With the ink signature and blind emboss of Harriet Prentiss Beaugearal, who spent 40 years in the interior design area of the Marshall Field Department Store in Chicago, while also being an afficianado of Oriental porcelain and also Wedgewood.
Copy 1865 of 2000, signed by Henry Inn on the limitation page. This work has mulitple sections by multiple authors, with photographs by Henry Inn, and black-and-white illustrations. "The photographs illustrate houses and gardens from Canton to Peiping and from Shanghai to Hangchow and the text is concerned with subjects that range from philsophy to farming. The book thus presents an informed and intimate picture of Chinese living. ... the war in the Far East has given the book importance as a record of archtiecture and gardens which are gone forever. ." - Introduction by Edgar Schenck. The last two-thirds of the book is comprised of the Plates, with the photographs printed on glossy, calendared paper.

Joyce And Company has been in business as a professional rare bookseller and appraiser since 1975. Owner Thomas Joyce was the regular book appraiser on Home & Garden TV\'s \"The Appraisal Fair\\\" program, on international broadcasts. Thomas Joyce was the co-discoverer of George Washington's personal copy of William Leybourn's 1679 edition of THE COMPLEAT SURVEYOR, from which young Washington learned some of his surveying skills at age 16. The book had vanished for nearly a century until its re-discovery in 2017. It is now back at Mt. Vernon.
