London: Bradbury & Evans, 1853. First Edition. Very Good+. First edition in book form, first issue with 'Christmas, 1851' on dedication page and ad pages as described by Eckel. 1852, 1853, 1854 [but actually 1851-1853]. Complete in three volumes. x, 210pp; viii, 214pp; x, 210pp [ads in rear of each volume] Bound in red blind stamped publisher's cloth, titled in gilt with pictorial gilt decoration at centers. Very Good+ with fading at spines, slight lean to bindings. minor soiling and dust staining to covers; volume two has heavier staining to top edge of front board and crown; staining persists through binding in first gathering. All edges marbled. Contents slightly tanned with minor instances of foxing. Dickens' anti-aristocratic and anti-monarchical history of England, written for children, in the original cloth.
