New York: Chapman & Hall, Limited, and Humphrey Milford, 1920. F. H. Townsend and others. This book is a possible association copy. Measuring approximately 6.75" x 4.25" with 423 numbered pages.
This book is in very good minus condition. Moderate bumping and chipping to both ends of spine. Moderate sunning to spine. Moderate chipping around all edges of boards. Minor scuffing and staining to all edges of textblock. Gift inscription on front endpaper from a "Marie Dickens". A possible relative of the author.
Dickens dedicated the book to "My own dear children, whom I hope it may help, bye and bye, to read with interest larger and better books on the same subject". The history covered the period between 50 BC and 1689, ending with a chapter summarising events from then until the accession of Queen Victoria.
