A Child's Garden of Verses. 114, [4] pp. Illustrated throughout by Joyce Lancaster Wilson with 9 full-page woodcuts, 36 woodcut initials, and several woodcut vignettes of various sizes. 8vo., bound in recent half morocco. San Francisco: The Press in Tuscany Alley, 1978. One of 500 copies, signed by the illustrator. Several poems by Stevenson are published here for the first time. Joyce Lancaster Wilson is responsible for creating this delightful book of vivid colours and felicitous images that work on a child's level but also appeal to adult readers. The book is a combination of colourful initials, vignettes and full-page plates, designed and printed by Joyce Lancaster Wilson and a skillfully printed text by her husband, the renowned San Franciscan scholar-printer Adrian Wilson, in Centaur and Arrighi types. Very fine condition.
