William Heinemann, London, 1893. Reprint. Hardcover (rebound in cloth). Good Condition/No Dust Jacket. At the rear of the book is a two page glossary. Red coloured cloth covered boards with black coloured embossed illustration (Star of David) and black coloured embossed titles are also present. Gilt coloured titles to the back strip. This is a one volume edition of a book that was first published as multiple volumes. The story of Jews living in ghetto, in appalling poverty and conditions, in London in the late 19th century. This book has been rebound – using the original red coloured cloth cover over black coloured cloth – please see photograph. Softening and a little fraying of the back strip edges; with bumping, rubbing and some fraying of the book corners. There is rubbing along the front and lower book edges and to the book panels. Tanning and faint foxing to the text block edges. The free front end page has become a little detached from the text block – for about half its length. Previous owner's name to the top left hand corner of the front paste-down; and to the top right hand corner of the half title page. Rubs, marks and stains to the end pages and there is a crease the full length of the free front end page. A little foxing to the pages. Sunning of the back strip. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
