About This Item

London: The Bodley Head, 1896. Cloth. Very Good. 8" by 5.5". Charles Robinson. A scarce first edition of this collection of poetry by Thomas Nicoll Hepburn, under his pseudonym Gabriel Setoun. The first edition of this work in the publisher's original cloth binding. Bookplate to the front paste down. 14 full page illustrations and numerous vignettes, headpieces and tailpieces, in a beautiful Art Nouveau style by Charles Robinson (1870-1937). Thomas Nicoll Hepburn (1861-1930) was a Scottish poet and author who wrote under the pseudonym of Gabriel Setoun. He wrote poems such as 'Jack Frost' and 'The World's Music.' This volume is a collection of his poetry for children. 10 pages of publisher's advertisements to the rear. In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally very smart; colour is good and gilt is bright. A little fading to the upper extremities and the spine, and some wear to the head and tail of the spine, including a couple of small losses to the cloth. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean except for the odd spot, mostly to the first and last few pages. Very Good
