New York: Dutton, 1973. 364pp. White cloth over cream boards, gilt titles on spine. Mild wear to binding, lower front corner slightly bumped. Dust jacket is price clipped and has a small closed tear where lower back panel meets spine. Signed by Troyat on half-title page and inscribed to Maurice Dorsky, in French, and dated July 22, 1987. The Russian born Troyat, a Prix Goncourt winner and prolific author, produced this bio of Chekhov among his several books on the lives of great Russian writers. Translated by Michael Henry Heim. Uncommon signed. . First Edition. Hardcover. Very Good/Very Good. 8vo.

The store contains over 10,000 books in over 80 different subjects, and favors good used books and good literature (both hardcover and paperback) over popular books and bestsellers. Our Internet business began in 2001. Upon visiting the store, we can show and sell individual online titles upon request. Store hours are 10:00-5:30 (Tues.-Sat.) and 11:00-4:00 (Sun.). The business is run by Richard Chalfin.
