Pristine first edition of this scholarly study, boldly inscribed and signed by the lead author in black ink on front flyleaf: "For Bob Malott, / who has done so / much for nonprofits -- / with best wishes -- / Bill Bowen / Oct. 1994." Bowen (1933-2016) served as 17th president of Princeton University (1972-88) and as president of the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation (1988-2006). Robert Malott (1926-2018) was a noted Chicago business leader, CEO of FMC Corporation, Republican politico and philanthropist. A superb presentation copy.
