Sydney: Australian Broadcasting Corporation, 1993. 144pp, index, map, num bw photos. Or pictorial card. Very slight edge wear. SIGNED and inscribed by author on title page (For Michael etc). A unique record of captivity under the Japanese. George Aspinall took secret photographs while a prisoner of war at the infamous Changi POW camp, and also on the appalling Thai/Burma Railway. He not only took photographs at great personal risk, but developed them on the spot using chemicals smuggled in medicine bottles from Singapore. The ingenuity and resourcefulness of this teenage Australian private soldier have resulted in a unique visual diary of captivity. Accompanied by text of this brave man's memories of war and captivity under the Japanese.. Signed & Inscribed by the Author. Reprint. Soft Cover. Very Good. Oblong 8vo.
