London, UK: MacDonald, 1949. 1st Edition 1st Impression. Hardcover. Good/Good. 1st edition, 1st printing. UK firsts precede US publications. 224pp. Black cloth boards (mottled, spine faded and titles rubbed). Neat lending sheet on front free endpaper. No other library markings. Internally neat, clean, bright and tight, with a few small marks on endpapers. Very slightly cocked. In its original dust jacket (a little rubbed on exposed edges and folds, mildly chapped around head of spine, some tape reinforcements on reverse, bright and attractive. All of Bush's 63 novels feature his recurrent characters, Ludovic Travers and Superintendent Wharton. Very hard to find in first edition from this collectible author of golden age crime fiction, even more so with its original dust jacket. Jacket fitted with archival-quality mylar wrapper to protect & prolong its life. It is not adhered to the book or to the jacket. 12mo
