Book Condition: Near Fine; scant wear to head and tail. DJ: Very Good+; slight wear to head, tail, and tips; slight soiling to panels. Blue grained paper over boards and spine with dark blue lettering on the spine. Tinted textblock top. Internal hinges are sound and not split. 285 pp 8vo. This novel follows a young man, Captain Adam Long, a freed indentured servant, as he gains and strives to keep his position as skipper of the Goodwill to Men ship. He must contend with pirates, looters, port administration, kidnappers, maroonings, duels, and a head-strong young woman named Maisie who he took on as a passenger. Her arrival leads him through some turbulent events and eventually a trip back to London and the greatest surprise of his life. Set during the 1700s in Rhode Island, the Caribbean, and England. A clean very presentable copy in a Brodart mylar jacket.
