Raised in Flatbush, Brooklyn, only child of George (school teacher, died 2007) & Elizabeth Chast (elementary school assistant principal, died 2009), of Jewish heritage. Married in 1938, children of the Great Depression, both living to their nineties, were very frugal. Family memories, between smiles & tears, of a single offspring minding aged parents in these contemporary United States..
