About This Item
Cambridge MA: Harvard, 1968. Second printing. 8vo, pp. xxxix, 264. Edited by C. Vann Woodward. A nice copy in slightly soiled dj. Fitzhugh used socialist doctrine to defend slavery and was a critic of laissez-faire economy and "wage slavery." He stated that it was the duty of society to protect the weak, but that to do so, the weak must be enslaved (including wives and blacks).
