Book #2 in this popular early-20th-century series books designed for girls by Margaret Vandercook, who also penned the Ranch Girls, Red Cross Girls, & Girl Scouts series. First published in 1913; this is a slightly later printing, listing to book #11 on back DJ & Book #10 inside. In 264 pages, illustrated with a plain frontispiece & 3 internal illustrations (artist unattributed). With decorative tan/red/black cloth-covered boards, condition is solidly Good: generally very clean, with the occasional spot or smudge. Text block strong & both hinges intact, but the stitching in the sewn binding is coming loose in places. Pages moderately tanned, heavier around edges, commensurate with age, but unmarked. Moderate rubbing to extremities, heaviest along lower edges; very heavy rubbing/fading to spine & rear board & area above front design. The unclipped DJ, with same design as book, is also barely Good, with some significant chipping, heavily darkened spine.
