Size octavo, 234 pages including index. Crimson cloth covered boards with silver titles to the spine, pale blue dust jacket with crimson portrait and titles. Book condition near fine, a few faint spots to page edges else fine, contents very clean. Dust jacket condition very good, corners and spine ends rubbed, top edge slightly faded, else fine, not price clipped. This copy was presented to Biographer and Critic Malcolm Elwin by the Author and it is inscribed to him: "To Malcolm Elwin, whose help was essential to me, with many thanks and regards, Thomas Ashton
