Brisbane: Barker's Bookstores, 1937. 1st ed.. Hardback small octavo, dustjacket, very good condition (in good dustjacket), black & white photos includes frontispiece, pages lightly toned & foxed, reverse side jacket little marked (lightly toned & foxed, edges little rubbed, minor edgewear, flap corners trimmed). 135 pp. Thomas (Thos) Welsby has wriitten an important local history of Bribie Island, plus a brief mention of Myora Mission on North Stradbroke Island. There is a chapter about Bongaree, the Aboriginal guide who accompanied Matthew Flinders. The author has identified Bribie as a Moreton Bay fish-hawking convict but it is uncertain if Bribie was a firstname or surname, but he definitely was a convict who made baskets to earn money.
