Other than the strictly Harte series, I found some of BTB's other books a bit bland. Not so Breaking the Rules. From the very first chapter, there is a mysterious element in it that keeps you captivated until the final chapter when the "villian" is revealed who is a huge surprise and very unexpected. In fact there are 2 mysteries side by side that keep you interested and reading. While not being in the Harte series, the story ties in very nicely with Emma Harte and her family. In all her books BTB brings out English traditions and expressions that an anglophile will thoroughly enjoy and she doesn't disappoint her readers here. For all her fans, Barbara Taylor Bradford's Breaking the Rules is a must read.
