Tall 4to, Navy blue quarter morocco over bright white canvas stamped with black silhouette, gilt spine titling. "Essays on Various Occasions and in Diverse Moods with favourite quotations Decorated and Enlivened with 60 illustrations & Devices. Written and Contrived by Sir Wm. Russell Flint, R.A. Privately printed for him by Charles Skilton, London, 1968." A lovely production. The illustrations are drawn with white chalk on a black ground and reproduced as "fine line blocks." 130pp plus colophon signed by Flint. Tiny smudge to front board else fine in fine maroon papercovered slipcase. Signed by Flint.

No dust jacket, this is John Gardner's first book, preceding his The Resurrection by four years, it is essentially a text book written while he was an English professor at Chico State College, Signed by Gardner, it includes John Steinbeck's The Chrysanthemums, pages 248-258, text from The Long Valley, Goldstone & Payne B124, not recorded by Morrow, also includes Ernest Hemingway, William Faulkner, Edgar Allan Poe, Anton Chekhov, James Joyce, and others. Very good plus.

Oblong folio. 37 black and white maps and charts showing sections of the propsed and existing sections of the highway through Guatemala to Panama. This is the plate volume only, no text. Printed paper wraps bound with rivets. The item has been folded once vertically with wear and loss to the covers. The maps have age toning but are mostly in very good condition, the vertical crease being more a bend on the maps than a crease. The size is 10 by 15 inches; some maps are larger and are folded at the right edges to fit. Only a good copy, but very scarce.
