[8x9.25"]; [1], viii, 318 pp. [1], frontispiece engraving of sinking of the Alabama, 55 engravings on plates and illustrations in text; Dark blue and cream buckram over covers with embossed gilt lettering on front and spine, embossed gilt illustration of a sail and arm on front; Some shelf wear, rubbing and light soiling to covers, edges and corners, corners bumped, spine faded and rubbed, front hinge cracked, but tight. This is an account of the Union naval battles and blockade and rivers control of the South during the American Civil War [1861 to 1865].
