Publisher's turquoise boards with black lettering to the spine with vignette of a palm tree with aeroplane and Japanese ship in the background. Mild foxing to the top edge, a tiny bump to the bottom right-hand corner of the back board (hardly worth mentioning) and a gift inscription to the front paste-down otherwise a near fine copy. Unusually, this book was not issued with a front free end-paper. In the RARE first state D/W priced 5/- net to the inside flap (as called for) and with the word "winning" on the second line of the blurb to the inside flap. The D/W by Stuart Tresilian is complete and is a bright VG example with some surface loss to the back panel removing part of the J C Masterman listing of titles and the NIVE of UNIVERSITY. The lettering to the back panel is in blue as required for the first state. Photographs/scans available upon request.
