Gloucester: Washbourn and Son, 1823-1825. First edition. Hardback. Fair. 10" by 7.5". None. A collection of scarce documents relating to the city of Gloucester, dating from the civil war. First edition, in the publisher's original paper covered boards. Complete in three volumes. Compiled by John Washbourn, this work is comprised of copies of scarce and curious documents relating to the county and city of Gloucester, illustrative of and published during the civil war. This includes information on the military leaders and the government in the seventeenth century. With four plates, including a frontispiece and a plan of Gloucester to volume one, a frontispiece to volume two and a map depicting the geographical view of Gloucestershire during the civil war in volume three. Collated, complete. In the publisher's original paper covered boards. Externally, fair, with rubbing to the boards and to the hinges. Partial loss to the backstrip to all three volumes. Boards slightly soiled, with the odd chip to the extremities. Hinges starting to all volumes. City of Cardiff library bookplate to the front paste down. Internally, binding is tender in places, particularly to the rear of volume three. Pages are generally bright and clean, with the occasional mark. Fair
