Clean green cloth boards with hint of browning to edges. No bumping or fraying. Binding is tight & square, no cracking. Pages and edges are clean but slightly yellowed with clean endpapers; no names, writing or bookplates. 292 pgs. Clean dustjacket (slight browning to edges), not price clipped, shallow chipping at top spine edge (1/4"), a few short closed edge tears. Enclosed in new archival quality removable mylar cover. Story of a man who had been born and educated in Berlin. With the advent of Hitler, he was sent to the U.S. to be educated. As Hitler prepared for war, his parents urged him not to return to a doomed Europe. He followed their advice, and the last letter he received from his father reported that his mother had been arrested by the Nazis, then the blackout of all news. America entered the war and He was in the army. When it was over, he was back in the streets of Berlin, searching for his parents in a blighted city of rubble and death. The climas is chill-laden melodrama, filled with narrow escapes..
