About This Item

Tight, square spine has some cosmetic creasing. Clean, unmarked interior. Some minor edge-wear and very subtle foxing to the edges. There is a small hole punched in the back cover. Gurdjieff once said, 'I bury the bone so deep that the dogs have to scratch for it,' and in this first volume of his All and Everything trilogy (itself divided into three volumes), we find a classic example of this allegorical density: the mystic's philosophy is concealed in the stories told by Beelzebub, an extraterrestrial piloting the spaceship, Karnak, alongside his grandson, Hassein. It has been said that this grandfather-grandson relationship, spurred by Freud's theory that Judaism and Christianity suggest a relationship between father (Judaism) and son (Christianity), reflects a worldview that is both pre-Judaic and post-Christian. 428 pp. Wester Esotericism.
