About This Item

London: Jonathan Cape, 1984. First edition. Hardback. Near Fine/Near Fine. 11.5" by 9". Kit Williams. The first titled edition of Kit Williams's beautifully illustrated armchair treasure book, The Bee on the Comb. The first titled edition of this work in the publisher's original pictorial boards, with the original unclipped dust wrapper. To the verso of the dust wrapper is the answer to the puzzle: instructions on how to discover the title of the book. Illustrated with 15 exquisite colour plates by Kit Williams. Collated, complete. The Bee on the Comb is an armchair treasure hunt book, written and illustrated by Kit Williams. It is a follow-up to his previous treasure hunt book Masquerade, although not a direct sequel. The book was initially published without a visible title; readers were challenged to discover the book's proper title and would win a prize for sending the right answer in the most creative way. In the publisher's original pictorial boards, with the original unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, pictorial boards are in lovely condition, with just a hint of sunning to the upper extremities of the rear board. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally very bright and clean, except for a couple of faint marks to the front paste down, front free end paper and title page. Dust wrapper is very bright and smart, with just some marks to the folds. Near Fine
