Reviews
Allan William Colt MacDonald is an icon in the western publishing market having created two great series of books--The Three Mesquiteers, and Gregory Quist, Railroad Detective. And if he had written nothing else these would solidify him as one of the greats. But he did write other novels and stories creating more characters and personalities. This book has Lance Tolliver a man wishing to solve the murder of his friend and then just go home. But circumstances and mysterious clues force him to continue the hunt for the killer amid outlaws and Indians and he discovers a secret Indian cult the closer and closer he comes to finding the truth. There's a girl, too, who complicates matters, along with her uncle, a professor who is down along the Border looking for a special cactus. This is a great book written when westerns WERE the books to read. It's great fun, great mystery, and great excitement as Lance solves his friend's death. GOOD BOOK!!
