Philadelphia: Temple University Press, (1988). First Edition. Hardcover. Fine/fine. 328p quarto illustrated. 1/300 numbered copies signed by bassist Hinton and Berger this copy #74. Tipped into the book an "archive quality photograph" (8"x 9" b&w) of Billie Holiday and Count Basie c. 1957 and signed by Hinton who has taken all the photographs in this book. A 5"x6" card is tipped into the inside front panel inscribed to "Norma and Bob, my dears thanks for your concern and support. All the best Milt Judge Hinton " plus a cartouche of a base. Laid in is a 16 line typed letter from Milton J Hinton Scholarship Fund thanking the Schaubs for their contribution and here presenting them with this special limuted edition. "....you should note that the slipcase was designed to accomodate the book without its wrap around jacket. (This is common in special edition collectors' volumes.) However we thought you would want to have the jacket so we included one with your book". Milt Hinton has signed the unattributed letter.
