Baryshnikov is a Soviet born Russian and American, choreographer and actor. He is often cited alongside Vaslav Nijinsky, Rudolf Nureyev and Vladimir Vasiliev as one of the greatest male ballet dancers in history. In 1977, he received a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor and a Golden Globe nomination for his work as "Yuri Kopeikine" in the film The Turning Point. He also had a significant role in the last season of the television series Sex and the City and starred in the movie White Nights with Gregory Hines, Helen Mirren, and Isabella Rossellini. This magnificent book has photographs of Baryshnikov s career in sections by year starting in 1974 when he defected from the Soviet Union 2000. 321 pages of photos with high quality photography grade paper. The book begins with a short 24 page biography by Joan Acocella, an essayist and dance critic for the New Torker. Other contributors are Robert Greskovic and Vera Mikhaillovna Krasovskaya. A beautifil production which could be considered a work of art itself. .
